BMS names executive chairman for Asia | Insurance Business Asia
BMS has appointed Ted Hodgkinson as executive chairman for Asia, effective late November.
Hodgkinson will join BMS from WTW, where he spent more than four years, most recently as head of Hong Kong and Macau, as well as head of corporate risk and broking. He has 30 years of experience in the Asia-Pacific region. He held a diverse range of roles and functions, including client management, business restructuring and M&A.
Hodgkinson began his career in 1992 at Hogg Robinson, based in London, before moving to Bain Hogg in Sydney, and subsequently to Aon. At Aon, he held several senior roles, including executive vice-president and chief broking officer. In 2012, he moved to Swiss Re, where he was head of corporate solutions, Asia-Pacific.
The appointment strengthens BMS’ geographic reach in Asia and drives a collaborative and client-centred approach across its products and specialisms, the international insurance and reinsurance broker said.
“With a first-class understanding of markets across the region, Ted’s appointment is highly important to BMS as we continue to expand our products and geographic reach,” said Sandra Lee, BMS Asia CEO. “Ted will help BMS in Asia expand into additional specialisms, potentially extending our expertise to reinsurance, renewable energy, marine, financial lines and capital markets. Ted will bring with him a wealth of knowledge which will be essential for BMS to grow at pace, and I’m delighted he will be joining us.”
“Asia is a crucial market and we continue to look to invest in the region through organic growth and acquisitions,” said Nick Cook, BMS Group CEO. “Our expansion plans are always driven by outstanding talent and so we are very pleased to have Ted on board to work with Sandra and help her lead the continued build out of BMS in Asia.”
