FWD has appointed Arthur Lee as chairman for Southeast Asia and executive vice president for new markets & corporate governance.

In this role, Lee will oversee FWD’s expansion in the region, as well as leading corporate governance across the group, including risk, compliance, audit, and legal functions.

Lee has held several insurance C-suite positions across the Asia-Pacific region. Most recently, he was chief executive and member of the board at Tokio Marine Asia. He was also member of several boards within the Tokio Marine Group.

Prior to his stint at Tokio Marine, Lee was executive director of the Asia Life Assurance Society, where he managed the property & casualty, and later, life insurance businesses in Singapore and Malaysia.

“We are excited to boost our leadership with a seasoned professional of Arthur’s calibre,” said Huynh Thanh Phong, chief executive officer of FWD Group. “He will work closely with myself and the group executive team to expand FWD in Asia geographically, as well as to deepen our presence in our current operating countries.

“His extensive knowledge of the South East Asian markets and his long term relationships with key partners in the region will be extremely valuable assets for FWD.”
