Global insurance brokerage Gallagher has announced the appointment of Mark H. Bloom as global chief information officer. Bloom succeeds Sean P. Connelly, who is retiring.

Bloom joins Gallagher from Aegon N.V., where he has served as chief information officer since 2016. Bloom also serves as a non-executive board member at Freddie Mac and is chairman of its operations and technology subcommittee.

Prior to Aegon, Bloom served at Citigroup in a variety of technology leadership roles, including global head of consumer digital and operations technology and chief information officer for the company’s commercial bank, retail cards, mortgage and CitiHoldings businesses. He has also served at JPMorgan Chase as chief technology officer for Chase Home Finance and vice president in Chase Retail Banking Technology. Bloom has also held roles at CACI International and Lockheed Martin/Martin Marietta/GE Aerospace.

“We are pleased to welcome Mark to Gallagher,” said J. Patrick Gallagher Jr., chairman, president and CEO of Gallagher. “His deep expertise and experience will help us continue to propel our operational strategy and IT objectives and initiatives as we continue to expand our global footprint. We would also like to thank Sean Connelly for his dedication and success in aligning IT programs with corporate strategies for Gallagher. We wish Sean the very best in his long-earned and well-deserved retirement.”
