Gallagher Bassett has launched its expansion into Asia with the appointment of Ming Wong as senior vice president – Asia.

Wong will be based in Singapore and will lead the company’s expansion in the continent’s various markets and the deployment of risk and claims solutions for its existing global, regional and Asia-Pacific clientele.

Wong has over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, having held senior roles at IC Frith & Associates, Aviva Asia, and, most recently, Prudential Assurance Company.

“We’re thrilled to announce the appointment of Ming Wong as senior vice president – Asia to enhance our on-the-ground service offering and build on our exceptional reputation in the Asia-Pacific region,” said Jon Winsbury, Gallagher Bassett’s executive vice president – International.

“With the insurance industry in the Asia-Pacific riding a strong growth spurt, Gallagher Bassett is well-equipped to maximise claims outcomes for new and existing clients.”

According to Gallagher Bassett, the Asia-Pacific insurance industry is growing rapidly, largely driven by China and buoyed by positive performance in South Korea. The region, with its fast-growing economies and populations, presents varying challenges for carriers, MGAs, and other insurance-related organisations.

Wong said the greatest opportunity for Gallagher Bassett will be rising to the region’s shifting expectations and demographics.

“We are witnessing a rapidly changing world, from market hardening, rising cost of risk, distribution and underwriting, and shifts to employment and operational delivery in commercial sectors – all while the insurable world continues to grow,” he said.

“Our expanded presence across Asia will allow us to better support our client’s needs locally, drawing on our global expertise and multi-disciplinary team.”
