HDI Global SE management board member Jens Wohlthat (pictured above), whose entire professional career has been spent at the industrial lines insurer, is retiring at the end of September but will remain available in an advisory capacity.

Starting out as an apprentice for the head office in Hannover in 1980, Wohlthat has been a member of the management board since 2006. He is in charge of the Asia-Pacific and African markets, as well as HDI Global SE’s global network.

Taking over from the departing stalwart is David Hullin (pictured immediately below), who is responsible for Continental Europe, North and South America, and the UK and Ireland. Hullin’s upcoming wider remit will span the insurer’s entire international business outside of Germany.

Torsten Leue, who chairs both HDI Global SE’s supervisory board and the management board of parent group Talanx AG, noted: “Jens Wohlthat, one of the leading experts in the international insurance industry, is going to retire. I should like to thank him most warmly for the successful expansion of the international markets. I would also like to wish him lots of enjoyment and all the best for the next stage in his life.

“David Hullin has a wealth of international experience, and he is the ideal successor to Jens Wohlthat. He is not only familiar with the insurance business and international markets, he also knows how to conduct strategic development of profitable organic and inorganic growth.”

Similarly, HDI Global SE management board chair Edgar Puls offered his “heartfelt thanks” for Wohlthat’s dedication and wished Hullin “every success” in his broader function.

Meanwhile, Andreas Luberichs is stepping down from the HDI Global SE management board by mutual agreement at the end of the month after completing the time-limited transformation task of launching the company’s restructured business in Germany. Luberichs, who is pursuing new challenges, will be succeeded by Dr Barbara Klimaszewski-Blettner (pictured immediately above).

“I would also like to extend my thanks to Andreas Luberichs for his successful work, particularly for the sustainable restructuring of the organisation in Germany of HDI Global SE,” said Leue.

Klimaszewski-Blettner currently heads the southeast region spanning Munich, Nuremberg, and Leipzig. Promoted to managing director, she brings more than 12 years of insurance industry experience to the post.
