Global insurer HDI has announced the opening of a representative office in Bangkok, Thailand, following the needed regulatory approval from the Ministry of Commerce.

This new office will be run by a newly appointed marketing director, with Somchai Trongwisalpattana taking on the role. Trongwisalpattana and the Bangkok office will report to HDI Global Singapore managing director Graham Stilton.

Growth ambitions for Thailand

The global insurer continues its expansion within the ASEAN region, especially in Thailand. Stilton said that the opening of HDI Global’s office in Bangkok shows the company’s commitment and growth ambitions, not just for Thailand, but also the wider region as they continue to service clients and business partners locally.

“We are delighted to welcome Somchai to our team. He is highly respected and well connected in the industry and I am very confident he will actively promote and showcase our capabilities to the market,” Stilton said.

Trongwisalpattana has nearly 40 years within the insurance industry, carrying with him a broad experience in commercial as well as industrial insurance.

“I am very pleased to be a member of HDI Global and a representative in Thailand. I believe that the new office will bring value and benefit to our clients and brokers in the form of fast decision-making processes of a global player who acts locally close to its clients’ business,” he said. “I am confident that I can provide quick response and service to our clients and brokers here in Thailand with our experienced and professional underwriters.”

HDI Global’s strong financial A+ rating continues to support large and corporate accounts with its track record within underwriting, risk engineering, and claims expertise. The Singapore office covers all major lines of business including property, power and energy, engineering, casualty, and marine.

September of 2022 saw HDI Global restructuring some of its team roles as part of the insurer’s “underwriting transformation” activities.
