HDI Global Insurance Company has announced the appointment of Patricia Ryan as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. Ryan succeeds David Neumeister, who has decided to return to private practice after more than a decade with HDI.

In her new role, Ryan will serve as principal counsel and will be responsible for managing all legal matters for HDI, including compliance, litigation, regulatory and government affairs, contracts, and legal consultation to the company’s business operations. Ryan will be part of the company’s leadership team and will work closely with the board of directors on corporate governance and business processes. She will report to Dr. Lothar Becker, president and CEO of HDI.

Prior to joining HDI, Ryan served as executive vice president and general counsel of American Overseas Group, a Bermuda-based insurance holding company. She has also served as a partner at Johnson & Bell and as assistant general counsel for QBE US Agencies and senior counsel at Allianz.

“Patricia’s impressive and expansive background in insurance law is perfectly suited for this role and HDI,” Becker said. “I am confident she will successfully expand our capabilities. She understands our culture and knows our business.”

Ryan holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and history from the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign and a juris doctorate from Loyola University School of Law.
