+8 Partners and Aon have announced a series of senior appointments across Asia, reshaping leadership responsibilities in key insurance and reinsurance markets, including Taiwan, Southeast Asia, and North Asia.

+8 Partners appoints Kao deputy chair

+8 Partners has appointed Wendy Kao (pictured) as deputy chair of the group. She will retain her existing position as chief representative, Taiwan, for Rare Earth Insurance Partners, a role she has held since August 2018. “Wendy’s appointment as deputy chair is a reflection of her significant contributions during her many years of leadership in this market. It is a much-deserved recognition of her standing and influence across the Taiwan insurance sector,” said Philip Bilney, founder and executive chairman of +8 Partners.

Kao has more than 30 years of experience in the (re)insurance sector, covering insurer, reinsurer, and broker roles. She began her career as a reinsurance underwriter at Taiwan Fire and Marine Insurance Company, spending nearly two decades on outward reinsurance and all-lines treaty business. She holds a reinsurance underwriting licence from the Swiss Insurance Training Centre in Switzerland and an underwriting licence from the Non-Life Insurance Association of the R.O.C.

Since moving into broking in 2000, Kao has worked on complex non-life (re)insurance programmes, including facultative and treaty placements. She has longstanding connections with reinsurers across Asia and has focused on Taiwan-related (re)insurance business. Kao is fluent in English, Mandarin Chinese, and Taiwanese. In the deputy chair role, Kao is expected to be involved in oversight of +8 Partners’ associated businesses and relationships in Taiwan and across the wider Asian (re)insurance market, particularly in non-life lines.

Aon names regional commercial and growth leaders in Asia-Pacific

Aon has announced three senior appointments in its Asia-Pacific business, assigning new regional responsibilities to leaders based in Singapore and Taipei.

  • Richard Tan has been appointed chief commercial officer, Southeast Asia.
  • Maggie Hsieh has been appointed chief commercial officer, North Asia.
  • Michel Muganza has been appointed regional managing director, growth strategy and sales enablement leader, Asia-Pacific.

In a LinkedIn post, Jane Drummond, chief commercial officer at Aon, Asia-Pacific, said she was “incredibly proud to share three leadership appointments that strengthen our growth team across Asia Pacific,” naming Tan, Hsieh, and Muganza to their new roles.

Drummond said: “Each brings deep market expertise, strong commercial leadership and a clear focus on helping our clients succeed. Together, they will have a meaningful impact across the region – strengthening how we connect our capabilities, support our teams, and deliver value for clients navigating an increasingly complex risk environment. These appointments reinforce our commitment to building a strong, connected commercial community across Asia-Pacific and to investing in leaders who make a real difference for our clients and colleagues. Well done Richard, Maggie, and Michel! I am excited about what each of you will achieve!”

Tan moves into Southeast Asia commercial leadership role

Based in Singapore, Tan now serves as chief commercial officer, Southeast Asia, after holding a succession of commercial roles at Aon in the market. Tan joined Aon in Singapore in 2018. He has served as chief commercial officer, Singapore; head of growth and delegated authority underwriting (DAU), Singapore; and head of sales for commercial risk solutions and affinity, with responsibility for business development and marketing. Before joining Aon, Tan was managing director of Tan Insurance Brokers Pte Ltd for seven years, handling P&L oversight, strategic planning, staff development, and client relationships. Earlier in his career, he held banking positions at HSBC, OCBC, and Standard Chartered in Singapore, working in branch and business management, sales management, and retail and commercial banking.

Hsieh takes commercial remit for North Asia

Taipei-based Hsieh has been appointed chief commercial officer, North Asia, expanding on her prior Taiwan-focused responsibilities. Hsieh currently serves as executive director and head of growth and delivering Aon United, Taiwan, a position she has held since July 2024. Since rejoining Aon in Taiwan in 2017, she has held roles including director and head of growth, associate director for growth and DAU, and senior manager.

Her earlier experience includes time as senior account manager and cyber champion at Aon-COFCO Insurance Brokers in mainland China, as well as prior account management roles at Aon Risk Solutions in Taipei. Outside Aon, she has worked at BNP Paribas Cardif and Fubon Insurance on financial lines underwriting, product development, and marketing programmes and has held channel and marketing positions at firms including IBM and other commercial organisations.

Muganza to lead APAC growth strategy and sales enablement

Singapore-based Muganza has been appointed regional managing director, growth strategy and sales enablement leader, APAC, adding to his responsibilities at Aon Inpoint. Muganza has been director of strategic engagement at Aon Inpoint since 2022, working with global (re)insurers in property, casualty, and specialty lines on topics such as market positioning, growth plans, and distribution effectiveness across Asia Pacific. Prior to joining Aon Inpoint, he spent more than 10 years at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) in marine cargo underwriting roles in Paris and Singapore, including as head of marine cargo for Asia-Pacific. Earlier, he worked as a political risk insurance broker at Aon Risk Solutions in Paris and held roles at Coface, AXA, and Aviva.
