Global law office Clyde & Co has appointed Joyce Chan as partner, to be based in its Hong Kong office. She will provide advice to financial service institutions and intermediaries on a wide range of regulatory and corporate issues.

Chan has extensive experience advising multinational insurance and reinsurance firms on various corporate and compliance matters, including mergers and associations, joint ventures, asset purchase, and formulating anti-money laundering, prevention of bribery, data protection and market conduct programs. She also helped implement a financial regulatory practice for non-banking Fintech service providers, especially those offering e-payment services.

Before joining Clyde & Co., Chan was an insurance lawyer for almost twenty years, spent between private practice and being an in-house counsel, most recently at DLA Piper. She has also led legal teams of two multinational insurers in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong managing partner Simon McConnell commented on Chan’s appointment: "We are delighted to welcome Joyce to the firm. Her practice has many synergies with our existing insurance and regulatory practice in Hong Kong, Greater China and Asia Pacific more broadly. She is well-known to those of us in the market and we look forward to working with her."

Simon McConnell was named to the Global 100. Learn more about the winners for Insurance Industry Professionals in 2023 in IB's special report.
