Chris Smith now serves as chief global brokers officer at MAPFRE.

The University of Lancaster alumnus came onboard MAPFRE Global Risks in 2013 and held positions such as European business head and, most recently, chief regions and markets officer – international.

Before then Smith worked at RSA for more than 18 years, where his remit included heading underwriting for international civil liability in London. He also managed major workers’ compensation accounts in the US.

In his new group role at MAPFRE, Smith will be in charge of client relationship strategy and policies for the global brokers channel. He will report to José Manuel Corral, general manager of the corporate business and clients area.

The appointment was given final approval at an executive committee meeting.
