Marsh Japan is set to acquire Mitsubishi Electric Insurance Service Co., Ltd., expanding its presence in the Japanese market through a deal with Mitsubishi Electric Corporation. The transaction is scheduled to close on November 4.

The acquisition brings the Tokyo-based insurance agency, which was established in 1999 to serve the Mitsubishi Electric Group and individual clients, under the umbrella of Marsh Japan. The company is a subsidiary of global insurance broker Marsh LLC, which operates under Marsh McLennan – one of the largest risk advisory and insurance firms in the world.

The decision follows an internal assessment by Mitsubishi Electric regarding the role of insurance operations in its overall structure. Citing changes in the domestic insurance agency landscape, the company said aligning the business with Marsh’s global expertise would offer a more sustainable growth path.

“Mitsubishi Electric determined having Mitsubishi Electric Insurance Service teamed up with Marsh Japan would best position the company for long-term growth supported by Marsh LLC’s global insurance expertise,” it stated.

Financially, the deal is expected to have a minimal impact. Mitsubishi Electric confirmed that the transaction is not reflected in its current earnings forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2026. However, it added that any significant effects would be disclosed in due course.
