MetLife appoints Lee Wood as Hong Kong CEO

Appointee has held various executive roles at several large-scale insurers across Asia

MetLife, a multinational insurer based in the US, has appointed Lee Wood as CEO for its Hong Kong operations. He will report to Damien Green, regional executive of MetLife Asia.
 
Wood is a veteran insurance professional with more than 15 years’ of experience in the industry. Most recently, he was senior vice president at Allianz Taiwan Life Insurance Co., where he was in charge of marketing, product development, and the direct marketing channel. Before that, he was managing director of HSBC Life Taiwan’s bancassurance operation, before it was acquired by Allianz.  He has also held various roles at several insurers, including ING Antai of Taiwan, AIG Indonesia, and AXA Life Japan.
 
Green commented on the appointment, saying: “Hong Kong is an important market in Asia for MetLife and we are excited to have Lee join us. His breadth of industry experience will serve to accelerate our business aspirations in Hong Kong.”
 
Wood obtained his MBA at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated with a BA in Mathematics from Occidental College in Los Angeles, California.
