MSIG Asia has announced two C-Suite appointments: William Song (pictured left) has been named chief technical officer, while Felicia Er (pictured right) has been appointed as chief risk officer.

Song joined MSIG Asia in 2010 and was promoted to the chief risk officer position in 2018. In his new role as CTO, Song will lead the insurers M&A function and investigate synergistic efforts to optimise MSIG’s operational efficiencies across the region.

Song’s experience in the industry spans over 20 years across various APAC markets. According to his LinkedIn, he also sits on the board of governors for the Singapore College of Insurance. He has also worked at WTW as a senior actuarial consultant, at Suncorp as an actuarial advisor, and at Allianz Australia as an actuarial analyst.

Replacing Song in the newly vacated CRO position is Er, who was previously a regional actuary for MSIG. In addition to her new role, Er is also currently the chairperson of MSIG’s motor committee where she focuses on optimising the general insurer’s motor business for strategic growth and profitability.

Er has been with MSIG Asia since 2012 and has 16 years of general insurance experience in both London and APAC. According to her LinkedIn, she is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, Fellow of the Singapore Actuarial Society and Fellow of the Society of Actuaries of Thailand.

“In the fast-changing business landscape today, we see many exciting opportunities for optimisation and growth, be it in our platforms, distribution channels, risk solutions or partnerships,” said Clemens Philippi, MSIG Asia CEO. “With William and Felicia working closely with our business units across the region, I am certain we will create greater value as a leading insurer in Asia.”

Earlier this year, the firm also appointed Victorio Villar as senior vice president and head of technical services, overseeing the underwriting, reinsurance, and claims functions across the Southeast Asian region.
