Munich Re has appointed Joachim Zagrosek as regional head of property treaty underwriting – Japan, India, Korea and Southeast Asia. Zagrosek is based in Singapore and reports directly to Roland Eckl, Munich Re’s chief executive for Asia-Pacific.

Zagrosek joins from Swiss Re, where he most recently led the property underwriting teams for the UK market and the global clients segment. He has also spent four years with Swiss Re Japan, heading up their underwriting desk in Tokyo, as well as other notable roles worldwide.

According to Munich Re’s statement, Zagrosek brings more than 20 years of experience in reinsurance underwriting with extensive expertise in all property lines and a strong focus on executing complex transactions.

With his extensive reinsurance experience, I am confident he will be a strong addition to Munich Re’s regional management team for Japan, India, Korea and Southeast Asia. Zagrosek holds a master’s degree in physics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich.
