The Singaporean Reinsurers Association (SRA) has announced the appointment of a new chairman.
Marc Haushofer, currently the chief executive officer of Valdius Re, will take on the role succeeding Alain Flandrin, chief executive officer (Asia Pacific) of Partner Re Asia, from January 1.

The nine-strong executive committee brings together some of the leading lights of the reinsurance industry in Singapore

“I am excited to be given the opportunity of serving our industry and look forward to working with my fellow EXCO colleagues, our member companies, other associations and industry-related bodies to advance the interests and potential of our industry across the region,” Haushofer said.

Haushofer thanked Flandrin for his time as chairman of the organisation, highlighted by driving representation of the SRA and its members across the market.

Flandrin praised the appointment of an experienced executive to the role.

“With his leadership skills and commitment to our industry in Asia-Pacific, I am confident that Marc, together with his colleagues on the executive committee, will continue to develop, consolidate and grow the influence of our industry in the region.

“I wish him every success in his engagement as chairman of our association.”

Founded in 1979, the SRA has 54 members, all major non-life reinsurance companies with a presence in Singapore, as well as several direct insurance companies with a substantial portfolio of reinsurance.
