Swiss Re has appointed Balasubramanian (Bala) Nagarajan (pictured) as head of client markets property & casualty (conventional), effective September 01.
Nagarajan will also head Swiss Re’s Malaysia business, succeeding Marcel Omar Papp, who has been in the role since 2018. Papp will focus on his responsibilities as head of Swiss Re Retakaful.
According to Swiss Re’s statement, Nagarajan’s appointment will strengthen and diversify the company’s insurance relationships for the P&C business across the region. He has extensive experience in the insurance sector, most recently as head P&C business management SID, where he oversaw claims processing in property and engineering, liability and non-life accident claims.
"We are pleased to have Bala drive our robust P&C business,” said Victor Kuk, head of P&C reinsurance SID. “With his 25-year track record across re/insurance in South East Asia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and India, having managed significant claims related to property, financial lines and catastrophes, the knowledge he will bring to our Malaysia business will be invaluable.”
