AIA Hong Kong and Macau has formalised a partnership with Concord Healthcare, a mainland China-based healthcare group listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, to expand cancer care options for employees insured under AIA’s group policies.

Announced on Sept. 11, this collaboration enables eligible members to access specialised cancer proton therapy and health screening packages at Guangzhou Concord Cancer Center, a facility recognised for its advanced oncology services.

New partnership targets employee health needs

The initiative is part of AIA’s ongoing efforts to enhance employee wellness through its WorkWell with AIA programme.

Cancer remains a significant health issue in Hong Kong, where local data indicates a new diagnosis every 15 minutes. This prevalence has prompted employers to consider more robust health and wellness benefits for their staff.

Proton therapy, which is valued for its targeted and less invasive approach to certain cancers, is often associated with high treatment costs.

The agreement between AIA and Concord Healthcare aims to address this barrier by offering insured employees access to these services at preferential rates, potentially easing the financial impact of cancer care.

Amelie Shen, chief corporate solutions officer at AIA Hong Kong and Macau, said the partnership reflects the company’s broader commitment to workforce health.

“This partnership is more than a healthcare solution – it represents our commitment to helping organisations and their employees access to more affordable advanced cancer care – when they need it most. By leveraging this collaboration, we’re helping employers build more resilient and healthier workforces. Together, we’re enabling employees and their families to live healthier, longer, better lives,” she said.

AIA retains top position in Hong Kong insurance sector

In addition to its healthcare initiatives, AIA Hong Kong has reported strong results in the first quarter of 2025 (Q1 2025), maintaining its leadership in the city’s long-term insurance market.

According to provisional figures from the Insurance Authority (IA), AIA ranked first in several categories, including the number of inforce policies, new business policies, and premiums generated through its agency channel.

Alger Fung, chief executive officer of AIA Hong Kong & Macau, attributed the company’s performance to its focus on customer needs and the expertise of its financial planners.

“The continued achievements would not have been possible without our team’s daily commitment to putting our customers first. We are also deeply grateful to our customers for their long-standing trust and support,” Fung said.

AIA also achieved leading positions in the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), Court of the Table (COT), and Top of the Table (TOT) categories, both locally and globally.

The company credits its Premier Agency strategy and a diverse range of offerings, including health, wealth, and Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) solutions, as key factors in its market performance.
