Generali Group has announced leadership changes for its operations in Indonesia and Malaysia, effective Feb. 1.

Generali Indonesia appointment

Rebecca Tan (pictured left) has been appointed as president director and CEO of PT Asuransi Jiwa Generali Indonesia. She transitions into this role from her previous position as CEO of Generali Life Insurance Malaysia Berhad.

With three decades of experience spanning life and general insurance, customer management, distribution, and marketing, she will now oversee the company’s strategy and operations in Indonesia. She will report to Rob Leonardi, regional officer for Asia.

Commenting on the leadership transition, Tan expressed her focus on growth opportunities in Indonesia.

“I’m honoured to be leading Generali Indonesia and our strong local team here as we expand our focus on innovative products and customer-centricity. I look forward to working together to expand our presence and coverage in Indonesia, as well as progressing our vision of becoming a Lifetime Partner for our customers,” she said.

Generali Malaysia appointment

Soo Wai Har (pictured right) will take over as CEO of Generali Life Insurance Malaysia Berhad. She has held leadership positions in commercial lines, technical operations, and strategic planning across major insurance firms in Malaysia.

In her new role, she will report to Fabrice Benard, country head of Generali Entities in Malaysia.

Commenting on the appointment, Soo Wai Har outlined her commitment to strengthening Generali’s market presence in Malaysia.

“I am excited to begin this new chapter in my career and continue to further our journey in driving excellence across our customer relationships by modelling our group operating model. It is an honour to lead our business in Malaysia, and I am committed to strengthening its strong foundation while driving the company to new heights,” she said.

Generali’s growth in Asia

Leonardi stated that the appointments reflect Generali’s strategy for regional growth.

“Congratulations to Rebecca and Wai Har on their respective appointments. They bring a deep wealth of expertise to their teams which will be invaluable to our ambitions in the region. With their proven experience and under their outstanding leadership, we are confident that Rebecca and Wai Har will drive sustainable business growth and expand our presence in Indonesia and Malaysia, respectively,” he said.

This comment brings to light the recent launch of the company’s Global Corporate & Commercial (GC&C) division in India through Future Generali India Insurance. The expansion, which became operational on Jan. 1, is aimed at providing insurance solutions for medium and large enterprises in key sectors.
