Arch Insurance International has launched a new transport and logistics insurance division, to be led by an industry expert with 35 years of market experience.
The new division will offer a suite of specialist marine and P&C insurance solutions for both the logistics and cargo sectors on a global basis. It will also provide packaged insurance products targeted at companies operating in the third-party logistics sector; these bundled products include contractual/professional liability, shipper’s interest cargo, and property & equipment cover.
Steve O’Gorman has been tapped to serve as the division’s head. As head of transport and logistics, O’Gorman will be responsible for bringing products to market and helping build a diverse portfolio of business. He will report to James Croome, active underwriter Arch Syndicate 2012 and head of fine art & specie.
O’Gorman has over 35 years of experience in both the global cargo and logistics segments. He most recently served as international head of marine & energy at Argo Group, which he joined in 2016. Before that, he spent 19 years of his career at CNA Insurance Company, most recently as European underwriting director for transport & logistics. O’Gorman started his insurance career in 1984 at Sedgwick.
“The launch of the transport and logistics division is a significant step for Arch given the growth potential we see in the sector,” said Croome. “We believe that our ability to provide the breadth of cover – whether individual products or packaged solutions – through a single dedicated operation focused exclusively on the individual client will prove a winning market proposition.”
“We are excited about the potential to deliver market-advancing products in the cargo and logistics space,” added O’Gorman. “Our aim is to combine our market experience and technical underwriting expertise with data informed insight to deliver the scope and quality of products that this evolving marketplace requires.”
