Chubb reveals new head of hull for London Market specialty business

By Lyle Adriano

Chubb has appointed Chris Turberville as head of hull for its London Market wholesale and specialty business, Chubb Global Markets (CGM).

As head of hull, Turberville will be responsible for the management, oversight, and development of all CGM’s commercial hull business, as well as its yacht portfolio. He will be based in London and report to CGM head of marine David Kirk. Turberville’s appointment is effective from the first quarter of 2023. He also succeeds Mark Edmondson, who served as acting product head for CGM’s hull and yacht portfolio.

Following Turberville’s appointment, Edmondson will assume the role of consultant marine underwriter for Chubb Overseas General, reporting to Chubb Overseas General executive vice president marine Andrew Williamson.

Turberville joins CGM from Allianz Global Corporate and Specialty, where he served as head of hulk and liability insurance (UK) since 2012. He is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute and also the Lloyd's Market Association's Joint Hull Committee.

"I am delighted that we have been able to appoint Chris to this important role within our marine team at Chubb Global Markets,” commented David Kirk. “Chris joins Chubb with a proven track record within the hull market where he is a highly experienced and respected practitioner. This makes him perfectly placed to lead not only the continued growth of our hull business but also the ongoing expansion of our team as we capitalise on new opportunities."

In September, Chubb promoted Alex Jackson to the role of product head of management liability for Chubb Global Markets. Jackson previously served as senior underwriter within the CGM management liability team. Through his promotion, Jackson succeeds Peter Bremner, who is leaving the business.
