Crawford & Company, a global provider of claims management solutions, has announced the appointment of Isabel Contreras as the new head of marine insurance in the Middle East, effective immediately.

Contreras (pictured), who will be based in Dubai, is set to lead the company's efforts in addressing a wide array of marine-related loss adjustments. These adjustments span various sectors, including vessel incidents, oil and gas infrastructure, port operations, oil terminals, cargo handling, and heavy-lift shipments throughout the Middle East.

Her direct supervisor will be Victor Noble, regional director for the Middle East and executive general adjuster at Crawford Dubai.

Who is Isabel Contreras?

With a career dedicated exclusively to the marine market for nearly 30 years, Contreras's extensive experience includes 16 years of service in the United Arab Emirates.

Her career prior to Crawford involved roles such as marine claims manager at Matthews Daniel and principal surveyor at DNV GL Noble. Contreras started her journey in loss adjusting at BV Campbell in Portugal in 1995.

Crawford enhances Middle East operations

The recruitment of Contreras aligns with Crawford's strategic initiatives to expand and enhance its operations within the Middle East. This follows the recent appointment of Hilda Levendal as the head of liability and professional indemnity in the region.

In a statement regarding Contreras's appointment, Noble underscored the importance of this strategic move for Crawford.

“[The] announcement demonstrates Crawford's ongoing commitment to providing our clients in the Middle East with access to the most experienced loss adjusting professionals in the region. Isabel is an exceptional talent in the marine insurance sector who has worked across a huge range of loss scenarios during her career, while also bringing her deep understanding of the unique requirements of the Middle East region to the role,” he said.
