Acrisure Re has appointed Roman Romeo (pictured above left) as president and head of Acrisure Re Bermuda, effective April 7.
He will be based in Bermuda and report to Michael Cross, president of Acrisure Re North America.
In his new role, Romeo is tasked with expanding the Bermuda platform, strengthening client service, and building a team to support the firm’s growth plans. The company said the appointment aligns with its wider objectives to grow its presence in Bermuda and increase its role in the global reinsurance market.
Romeo brings over 20 years of experience across underwriting, analytics, and portfolio management. He joins Acrisure Re from Aon, where he was CEO of Aon Reinsurance Solutions, Bermuda. He has held senior positions at AXIS Capital, PartnerRe, Flagstone Reinsurance Holdings, and XL Group, now AXA XL.
Additionally, Acrisure Re has also named Barry Gordon (pictured above right) as senior vice president, ILW, effective April 15. Gordon will also be based in Bermuda and report to Romeo. He is responsible for trading industry loss warranties (ILWs) and developing index-based product offerings.
Gordon most recently served as vice president, ILW at Aon, and has experience in retrocession and reinsurance strategies.
Simon Hedley, CEO of Acrisure Re Group, said the addition of Romeo marks a significant step in the company’s expansion strategy in Bermuda.
In March, Acrisure Re US also announced the promotion of Tom Deane to managing director, head of Acrisure Re Corporate Advisory & Solutions, LLC (ARCAS US).
In this role, Deane oversees ARCAS US operations and serves as its supervisory principal, as well as working with the global team to strengthen ARCAS’s four core areas: strategic advisory, insurance-linked strategies, retrospective transactions, and corporate finance.
Last month also saw the reinsurance broker announcing the promotion of Devin Inskeep to senior vice president, head of ratings and strategic advisory.
