Lockton Re is moving to deepen its Bermuda bench before the January 1 renewal season, appointing Jeremy England Lee (pictured) as chairman of its Bermuda office in what the firm describes as the first in a planned series of senior investments in the island operation.
England Lee has worked within Lockton Re’s non-marine retrocession and property specialty division since June 2021, supporting the build-out of a team that operates across London, Bermuda, and the US. His relocation to Hamilton, subject to regulatory approvals and expected in early 2027, shifts one of the division’s senior figures into the market where retrocession and industry loss warranty trading is most concentrated.
Tim Gardner, global CEO of Lockton Re, said the timing was deliberate. “This new role is the first step in our investment plans and key appointments for Lockton Re Bermuda as we support clients through another busy January 1st renewal,” he said. Gardner added that further announcements relating to the Bermuda office would follow in the coming weeks and months.
Lockton Re opened its Bermuda office in June 2021, describing the island as “an immensely important reinsurance hub” and its twelfth global location. The office was established with a focus on retrocession, industry loss warranty (ILW), and property specialty capabilities, initially led by Jonathan Davies as CEO and Thomas Parcell as chief broking officer.
Robert Bisset joined simultaneously as chairman of global retrocession and property specialty for Bermuda and market capital, a senior oversight role he continues to hold. England Lee’s appointment as Bermuda chairman adds a second layer of senior leadership to the on-island operation rather than filling a vacancy.
According to Lockton’s full-year results, Lockton Re recorded approximately 15% revenue growth in the fiscal year to April 2026, continuing a run of double-digit expansion that included 29% growth in the prior year. That trajectory gives the Bermuda investment context. The firm is not restructuring. It is scaling into a market where it has identified room to grow.
Matt Foreman, head of non-marine retrocession and property specialty at Lockton Re, described England Lee as having “a significant market profile and a proven track record of producing, placing and servicing some of the largest global clients.”
England Lee began his career in 1978 at Lloyd’s D.E. Harman Syndicate, according to Lockton Re, before moving through CT Bowring, later known as Carpenter Bowring, where he held roles across facultative, North American treaty, and retrocession. He joined Benfield as a director in 1996, spending around a decade there before moving to Aon in August 2007, where he served as managing director within the Global Re Specialty team for close to 14 years. He joined Lockton Re in June 2021.
England Lee said he was looking forward to expanding support for on-island business and global clients, working alongside Bermuda-based partners Parcell and Ben Ryan.
