Topsail Re has announced the appointment of Chris Bilski (pictured) as senior vice president of underwriting. In his new role, Bilski will oversee underwriting, marketing, and account management. 

Bilski joins Topsail Re with extensive experience in reinsurance and actuarial roles. Prior to this appointment, he served as managing director at Howden Re from July 2023 to February 2025. Before that, he held the same title at IAT Insurance Group for more than five years.

His background also includes nearly two decades at Munich Re, where he served in multiple underwriting and actuarial leadership positions. 

Throughout his career, Bilski has worked across multiple lines of business, including casualty, property, and surety. While at Munich Re, he was responsible for underwriting referrals and participated in management decisions as deputy to the head of national clients casualty. He also managed pricing and portfolio oversight for a US$450 million book of national accounts. 

Bilski is a fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS), a member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA), and holds an Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) designation. He earned a bachelor of science in mathematics from Penn State University, with dual minors in computer science and management information systems.

Bilski also completed an executive education program in negotiation and competitive decision-making at Harvard Business School. 

Outside of its efforts to bolster its underwriting operations, Topsail Re also made moves to strengthen its analytics and reinsurance accounting with the addition of two industry professionals.

Joel Belliveau joined Topsail Re as vice president of analytics, whileJessica Hall was appointed as Topsail Re's reinsurance accounting manager.
