Howden Re is defined by a culture built on independence, shared ownership, and entrepreneurial drive. Its people-first mindset is why employees stay, and why recruiters often walk away empty-handed.

Workplace environment and benefits

Howden Reinsurance supports different paths and values staff who reflect shared goals. The team creates a flexible, healthy space where work and life can both thrive:

  • reasonable adjustments: includes flexible hours, hybrid setups, and tailored IT or workspace needs
  • mental and physical health: supports well-being at home and at work to improve overall happiness
  • work/life balance: promotes healthy time off, remote work, and support for personal needs

The company backs bold ideas and stands by its people through small wins and big steps. Howden Re wants every person to try new things and help shape a better future.

Diversity and inclusion

Howden Reinsurance builds a workplace that reflects different perspectives and values belonging and openness:

  • All of Us: global pledge program focused on inclusion, action, and employee-led change
  • Respect: internal ERG-driven initiative for voice, value, and collaboration across teams
  • gender pay gap: promotes fair hiring, growth, and recognition through clear recruitment practices

The company backs diversity through action, not words, by pushing change from the inside out. A global D&I figure now leads the group’s efforts to grow and support inclusive talent worldwide.

Sustainability approach

Howden Reinsurance shares progress, plans, and case studies in its Sustainability Report. In Yemen, it helped de-risk a UN-led oil mission under complex global pressures. The team engaged over 100 underwriters and used insurance as a force for good.

The future at Howden Reinsurance

Howden Re sees renewable energy as a major driver of future reinsurance growth. Its latest report highlights solar, wind, and battery storage as areas of rising risk and demand. The company calls for better tools, teamwork, and clear risk-sharing across the energy supply chain.

Howden Reinsurance partnered with Rivonia Road Capital to expand commission financing for insurance players. The deal blends Howden Re’s network with Rivonia’s asset-based lending expertise. This move supports the firm’s goal to help clients grow, stay agile, and access capital faster.
