RCMP alleged that an Airdrie man set his home on fire on two separate occasions last year in an attempt to collect on an insurance claim.
Firefighting personnel put out a fire at a house on Silver Springs Way on April 13, 2016, and again on December 31 that same year.

“The fire was deemed suspicious due to incendiary material being located within the structure,” the RCMP said in a statement.
A joint investigation by the Airdrie Fire Department and RCMP found evidence that suggested that the homeowner, 35-year-old Shaun Lee Sandbach, had intentionally set the fires.
Sandbach was also accused of falsely claiming last November 06, 2015 that his vehicle was stolen at gunpoint, RCMP said.
He is charged with two counts of arson for a fraudulent purpose, two counts of possession of incendiary material and three counts of fraud over $5,000, “and false pretences due to his alleged purchasing of the material to burn his own property and attempting to have insurance cover the cost of the fire,”
CBC reported.
Sandbach is set to appear in provincial court on June 01, in Airdrie.
