Intact Financial Corporation issued a response following Canada’s Top 100 Employers’ publishing of its most recent iteration of the “Canada’s Top Employers for Young People” list, saying that Intact is proud to have been awarded the designation.

The Canada’s Top Employers for Young People list is an annual editorial competition by Canada’s Top 100 Employers team at Mediacorp Canada Inc. that “recognizes the employers that offer the nation’s best workplaces and programs for young people just starting their careers.”

Intact was one of the 100 companies that made the list this year. In total, six insurance companies were named in the ranking.

“At Intact, we offer young people the opportunity to make a difference – whether it’s helping a customer who has a claim, developing new technologies to enhance the customer experience or doing our part to help communities better prepare for climate change,” said Intact Financial Corporation vice-president, Human Capital Management Denise Thompson. “We value the diversity of our people and their aspirations and have developed a number of programs to help young people start and grow their careers with us.”

According to a release, millennials accounted for 35% of Intact Financial Corporation’s employees in 2016. Fifty-six percent (56%) of these employees were under the age of 30, and work in departments such as sales, actuarial, technology, claims and commercial insurance.

In a release, Intact listed its young employee-focused initiatives, which include training programs, internal development programs, and benefits such as tuition assistance and bonuses.

Also in the release, Intact mentioned the launch of its nine employee networks across the country, including women’s networks, an LGBTA network, healthy living groups, and young professionals networks.
