iA Financial Group has donated a total of $500,000 to charities making strides in the fields of health, environment, social services, and education.

For the seventh edition of its annual philanthropic contest, the insurance and wealth management group offered financial support for 12 selected charities, with the top four securing a $100,000 grand prize.

The content’s aim is to provide financial support to charities with promising projects in health, environment, social services, or education. A jury reviewed numerous proposals from across the country, with 12 finalists competing for public votes to determine the most inspiring projects.

The four charities with the most votes each received a $100,000 donation, while the remaining eight finalists were awarded $10,000 each.

iA Financial Group’s 9,000 employees also played a role in the selection process, choosing four of their favourite charities that would receive an additional $5,000 in donations.

Winning the $100,000 grand prize are Hope for Dementia in Quebec, I Challenge Diabetes in Ontario, PLEA Community Services Society of British Columbia, and Community Care Network Society in Nova Scotia.

Meanwhile, the iA employee favourites are the PLEA Community Services Society of British Columbia, Community Care Network Society, Trails Youth Initiatives in Ontario, and Je Passe Partout in Quebec.

“Every year, I am impressed by the quality of the projects submitted by organisations serving Canadian communities,” Denis Ricard, president and CEO of iA Financial Group, said in a news release. “On behalf of iA, I would like to thank them for their dedication to developing educational projects that make a real difference to individuals and communities. I would also like to thank everyone who took the time to vote.”

Earlier this week, iA Financial Group announced new greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction goals that it wants to accomplish by 2035.
