Specialist re/insurance broker BMS has expanded its cyber capabilities with the appointment of a new co-divisional director, naming Daniel Leahy in the role.

Leahy, a Chartered Insurance broker in the London Market with nearly a decade of experience, transitions to BMS from Howden, where he held the position of divisional director for cyber & technology. His background in cyber insurance also includes a previous role at Miller Insurance Services LLP.

Starting in September and operating from London, Leahy will serve alongside Simon Meech under the guidance of Monica Tigleanu, the cyber strategy director at BMS.

“Dan will work closely with our colleagues in other specialty lines including healthcare, energy, and financial lines to deliver comprehensive client solutions. This is the next step in our commitment to build a team that differentiates us in the market and exceeds our clients’ expectations,” Tigleanu said.

Leahy’s future co-director Meech also highlighted the strategic importance of his upcoming appointment.

“Dan is someone I’ve wanted to work with for some time,” Meech said. His dedication, focus, and innovation have been talking points with clients and within the market for years. As we enter the next chapter of our team build-out, Dan is a vital cornerstone, leader, and expert who will take BMS’ offering to the next level. This is a truly exciting moment that elevates both BMS’ and Dan’s ambitions to bring a different way of working to our clients.”

Ian Gormley, CEO of BMS UK, also commented on Leahy’s arrival as “another great hire” for the firm’s specialty team.

“He brings extensive knowledge in an increasingly complex class, underpinning our commitment to providing our clients access to passionate experts,” Gormley said.

Elsewhere for the brokerage’s reinsurance division, Andrew Wheeler and Russ McGuire have been appointed as interim co-CEOs for BMS Re.
