Maritime Program Group’s slogan, “coverage in motion,” sums up the company’s expertise in insuring marine risks, as well as its commitment to ensuring that its solutions evolve with the market's needs. MPG was founded when AIG decided to exit the middlemarket marine business in the early 1990s, leaving the door open for MPG to consolidate those small accounts into a new program group. MPG enhances its industry expertise by recruiting underwriters with a marine background and teaching them the insurance side of the business.

The company was the first in the US to offer an online rating tool for boats and yachts, and over the years, MPG has diversified its portfolio to expand into other classes of business; it was awarded with a TMPAA Best Practice Designation this year.
