Marine Ress (pictured) has been named casualty chief underwriting officer for Europe and APAC at AXA XL Insurance.

Based in Paris, Ress will take on the role on October 01. She will be overseeing the management of AXA XL’s casualty portfolio and will be in charge of the underwriting strategy for general liability, motor, and environmental insurance in both regions.

Ress, who brings more than two decades of insurance industry experience to the post, spent years at Aon and Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS). Her credentials include serving as AGCS regional head, liability underwriting for the Mediterranean region and Africa.

“The casualty insurance market has seen increased frequency and severity of losses in recent years and is undergoing transformation due to the emergence of new risks, notably those associated with new technologies,” said AXA XL Insurance APAC & Europe CUO Etienne Champion. “Our clients and brokers turn to us to help them navigate these developments.

“I am delighted to have Marine join the APAC & Europe underwriting function. Her extensive experience in liability insurance, both as a broker and an underwriting leader, makes her an ideal candidate to head our casualty business in Europe and Asia-Pacific.”
