Global insurtech firm bolttech has partnered with Harmony Auto to introduce embedded electric vehicle (EV) insurance products for BYD EV owners in Indonesia. According to a news release, this is the company’s first mobility partnership in the country.

The collaboration expands on bolttech and Harmony Auto’s previous partnerships in Singapore and Hong Kong, aiming to combine technology-driven protection with customer-focused distribution. The launch comes as Indonesia pushes to accelerate EV adoption, with national targets of 2 million electric cars and 13 million electric two-wheelers by 2030.

“At bolttech, we believe that protection should evolve alongside innovation,” said Andrew Cons (pictured, left), general manager, bolttech Indonesia. “Our partnership with Harmony Auto reflects our commitment to supporting Indonesia’s green mobility transition by providing EV owners with smart, flexible insurance solutions.”

The insurance plans, now available at all BYD Harmony Auto showrooms nationwide, provide a mix of EV-specific benefits, personal protection, and expanded risk coverage. Customers can choose between two options: a comprehensive plan or total loss only (TLO). Both cover new vehicles with a maximum sum insured of IDR 1.5 billion.

Key benefits include:

  • EV-centric services such as 24/7 roadside assistance, compensation for battery and home charger damage, ambulance support, taxi reimbursement, and wheel and tyre protection.
  • Safety and wellbeing coverage including personal accident protection for drivers and passengers (up to IDR 50 million per person), third-party liability (up to IDR 50 million), legal liability for passengers, and medical expenses.
  • Expanded coverage under the comprehensive plan, protecting policyholders against natural disasters, riots, terrorism, and additional third-party liabilities.

“By integrating bolttech’s insurance offering into our customers’ EV ownership journey, we’re giving them more than just a vehicle – we’re giving them peace of mind, convenience, and confidence on the road,” said Pak Suwandy (pictured, right), country head BYD & Denza Harmony Auto.

bolttech said full launch details of the insurance plans will be announced in the coming weeks.
