Chaucer, a global specialty (re)insurance group, has appointed Nadine Sidawi as its new class underwriter for its political violence team in Dubai.

Sidawi brings with her 12 years of experience from her previous role at Liberty Specialty Markets, a commercial insurance and reinsurance provider operating in Europe and the Middle East as part of the Liberty Mutual Group based in the United States. During her tenure at Liberty, Sidawi held the position of senior underwriter, specialising in assessing war and terrorism risks for transportation operators. Her expertise involved safeguarding against unforeseen damages resulting from acts of sabotage and insurrection.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming Nadine to Chaucer. She is a very talented underwriter with an excellent reputation in the MENA region for being innovative and forward-thinking. I am sure her unique skill set and experience across multiple markets will be an outstanding addition to our offerings for brokers and clients throughout the region,” said Fawzi Omari, senior executive director at Chaucer’s Dubai office.

Chaucer's Dubai office, established in 2017, has experienced a 40% increase in its book size year on year. The office caters to clients in the Middle East and North Africa, offering customised risk solutions and service expertise across six (re)insurance lines: political violence, political risk and credit, casualty, property, energy, and marine.

“I’m incredibly proud to be joining the Chaucer team in Dubai and look forward to contributing towards further growth of its book in the MENA region,” Sidawi said.
