Global life insurance broker Charles Monat Associates (CMA) has hired a new CEO for Singapore. In his new role, Martin Wong will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s expansion in Southeast Asia, including both the international business and new domestic markets.

Wong will take the helm in November this year, and will report directly to Charles Monat group CEO Yves Guélat.

“[Wong] is a renowned industry figure whose vast experience will enable us to continue building Charles Monat as the premier High Net Worth insurance broker,” Guélat said. “His global experience in the High Net Worth space, proven track record, wealth transfer expertise and strong relationships with many key strategic partners will be a tremendous benefit for us as we continue to fulfil our ambitious long-term growth strategy and goals.”

Wong will transfer from Jardine Lloyd Thompson Private Client Services, where he was Singapore CEO.  Before that, he was a vice president at Merrill Lynch in New York.

Last year, CMA bought 100% of Willis Towers Watson’s global wealth solutions business. Financial details of the deal were undisclosed.

“Since our management buyout, Charles Monat has added close to 70 new experts across our global operations and we will continue to recruit the best talents to keep up with our strong sales momentum,” Guélat said.
