FWD Group has appointed Robert Schimek as managing director and group chief operating officer.

He joins FWD from AIG, where he was most recently president and CEO of its global commercial insurance business. In this role he was responsible for the company’s global property, casualty, financial lines, and specialty products and services.

Schimek has extensive international experience, having held several roles in multiple global markets with AIG. He has served as CEO for Europe, the Middle East & Africa before becoming president and CEO for the Americas. He was also chief financial officer of AIG’s global property casualty business. Prior to AIG, he was a partner at Deloitte & Touche, where he worked for 18 years.
