Generali Global Corporate & Commercial (GC&C) has appointed Duke Ng (pictured) as head of property underwriting for Asia, succeeding the recently retired Joe Venetico.

Based in Generali’s regional headquarters in Hong Kong, Ng is responsible for leading the property business across Asia.

Ng has 18 years of experience in the insurance industry and joined Generali GC&C in 2015 as a risk engineer, senior manager for Greater China. Prior to joining Generali, he was risk engineer senior manager at Zurich Risk Engineering Group, based in Hong Kong and Malaysia.

With an electrical engineering background from City & Guilds London Institute, Ng also has a master’s degree in insurance and risk management from Deakin University, Australia, as well as a master’s degree in business administration and management from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia.

“As a technical expert, [Ng] brings the risk appreciation capabilities and expertise coupled with a strong understanding of the Asian insurance landscape which will help to drive Generali’s underwriting excellence across the region,” said Hayden Seach, head of Generali Global Corporate & Commercial Asia.

“I would like to thank Joe for his indeed enormous contribution to Generali and we wish him all the best in his retirement,” Seach added. “It is particularly pleasing that we have been able to identify his replacement from within and this appointment reflects the strength and depth of talent we have within the business.”
