Clement Cheung, the recently appointed chief executive of Hong Kong’s Insurance Authority, will speak at Brokerslink’s 10th global conference, which makes a return to the city next month.

Cheung will open the second day of the conference, which will be held on October 11-12. The event will gather over 250 independent insurance brokers and strategic partners from over 100 countries to discuss key issues facing the global broking and insurance market, a statement from Brokerslink said. The conference will feature plenary sessions and panel discussions with industry leaders and experts and will provide an opportunity for Brokerslink’s network of partners and affiliates to share knowledge, insights and expertise.

As part of the global conference, Brokerslink will hold its second risk management forum, featuring senior risk managers from Asia, EMEA, Latin America, the US, and Canada, and will discuss key risk management trends. The forum is organised in partnership with the Pan-Asia Risk and Insurance Management Association (PARIMA) and sponsored by African insurer SUNU Assurances.

“I’m proud to be chairing our 2018 conference and delighted to welcoming my fellow Brokerslink partners and affiliates to Hong Kong,” said conference chairman Patrick Chan, who is also director & general manager of Nova Insurance and vice chairman of Brokerslink.

“This year we’re privileged to be joined by Mr Clement Cheung, having recently been appointed as CEO of the Insurance Authority Hong Kong, his attendance signifies the importance of organisations like Brokerslink for the growth of the Asian insurance market.”

Meanwhile, Jacqueline Legrand, CEO of Brokerslink, said: “Since our first conference in 2009 we have transformed from a loose network of independent broking firms into a global broking organisation. We are now embarking on a new phase of growth and are considering capital and shareholder opportunities to continue our development as a multi-national business. Brokerslink is absolutely committed to supporting independent brokers worldwide, and the conference allows us to elaborate our strategy and share the tools we have to help our partners and affiliates to succeed.”

Among the conference’s sponsors are AIG, Allianz, AMSA Assurances, Argo, Asia Insurance, AXA, Chevalier Group, Chubb, CNA, Fidelidade, Focuspoint, Generali, Liberty, Nova Insurance, Peak Re, Ping An, Pioneer Insurance, Saham, SUNU, Swiss Re, Travelers, XL Catlin, and Zurich Insurance.
