McLarens, an international loss adjuster, has expanded its presence in Asia-Pacific by opening a new office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

According to the firm, which specialises in complex, commercial, and niche markets, the move will establish a platform for growth in one of Asia’s largest loss adjusting markets and is in line with its strategy of operating in key regional markets across the globe.

Heading the new operation in Malaysia will be Veknesh Subramaniam (pictured), who has been appointed general manager. He has over 19 years’ experience in the loss adjusting industry in Malaysia, having handled multi-million dollar losses involving fire, explosion, liability, engineering, plant & machinery, equipment, fidelity guarantee as well as various other types of claims for both commercial and industrial losses.

Before joining McLarens in 2017, Subramaniam worked with a number of local adjusting firms in Malaysia, managing large portfolios for local and global insurers, brokers, and corporate clients.

“McLarens has been active in Malaysia for some time,” said Chris Panes, chief operating officer for Europe, Middle East, and Asia-Pacific at McLarens. “However, as one of the largest insurance markets in the region, and with increasing demand from clients, it’s become increasingly clear that we require a full-time presence in the country. Veknesh is ideally placed for this role – he’s recognised for his leadership in Malaysia and we’re delighted to have him leading our Malaysian operations.”
