MSIG Singapore, the city-state’s fourth largest general insurer, has appointed industry veteran Craig Ellis (pictured) as its new chief executive officer.

With over four decades of experience in the financial services industry, mainly in insurance covering general, life and health, and banking, Ellis fills a position vacated by outgoing CEO Michael Gourlay. He brings with him broad international experience from Australia, Europe, and Asia, having held senior positions with Allianz, Old Mutual, and Charles Monat Associates.

“We are pleased to have Craig lead MSIG Singapore as CEO,” said Alan Wilson, regional CEO of MSIG Asia. “He is an accomplished leader with extensive management and industry experience and will be a great asset to MSIG Singapore as we continue to drive stronger growth and profitability in the region.”

Outgoing CEO Michael Gourlay had led MSIG Singapore for four years since April 2015 and had been with the group for over 40 years. As CEO of MSIG Singapore, Gourlay played an instrumental role in driving digital transformation across the enterprise.

“On behalf of the board and the group, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mike,” said Wilson. “He has contributed immensely to the profitable growth of the region and his strong leadership has repositioned MSIG Singapore to be a forward looking and innovative organisation. We are proud of his dedication, commitment and contribution to the market which is well recognised in the industry.”
