Munich Re Specialty Group has recently announced that it has appointed Celine Ang as Head of Asia, effective August 1.

She will be responsible for Munich Re syndicate offices within the region, and will be based in Singapore.

Ang joins from Euler Hermes, where she is serving as CEO of ASEAN. Her career began 30 years ago, as an underwriter at Allianz in Singapore. She was later assigned to Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty in Canada, where she was eventually appointed as CEO and country manager.

She later moved to Munich, where she served as Allianz’s Global Account Manager for Aon, then later becoming the Head of Global Broker Management in London. Ang then moved to Euler Hermes, where she was Group Head of Distribution in Paris, before assuming her current role as CEO in 2014.

Ang is a recipient of a Bachelor of Arts degree, Major in Economics from the National University of Singapore.

Munich Re has recently partnered with the World Bank, the World Health Organization (WHO), Swiss Re Capital Markets, and AIR Worldwide to create the Pandemic Emergency Financing Facility – a platform for funding relief efforts following a major disease outbreak. The PEFF’s insurance fund will provide maximum coverage of US$425 million for an initial three-year period.
