Sompo International, a Bermuda-based specialty property and casualty re/insurer owned by Sompo Japan Nipponkoa, has appointed Victor Sordillo as senior vice president, loss control leader.
 
Sordillo will be heading the company’s loss control team in the continuous development and delivery of strategic loss control services to medium- and large-sized clients in the real estate, financial, hospitality, and professional services sectors. He will be based in New York and will report to Michael Chang, CEO of Sompo Global Risk Solutions.

“As we continue to build our Global Risk Solutions business, we are extremely excited to attract a loss control leader of Vic’s calibre,” said Chang. “We are committed to not only insuring our clients against loss, but working closely with them to reduce loss experience and identify ways to improve and differentiate their business operations.”  
 
Going forward, Sompo International intends to evolve its loss control capabilities, with Sordillo in charge, to be able to support the entire Sompo International insurance platform.

Sordillo joins from QBE, where he also worked as senior vice president in a loss control role. Prior to that, he spent 30 years at Chubb, handling various risk management roles. He also served as mayor of Warren Township, New Jersey, for 16 years.
