Swiss Re Asia has added two new leaders to its property and casualty team, with the appointment of Hans-Joachim Zimmermann (pictured left) as head of client markets, P&C (conventional) in Malaysia, and Xinmei Zheng (pictured right) as head of client markets, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Zimmerman, whose appointment will take effect on July 15, will be responsible for marketing, origination and client relationship management activities of P&C conventional business in the Malaysia and Indo-China markets. He has over two decades of experience in the insurance industry and has overseen several underwriting and business development functions in Singapore, Malaysia and Germany, where he covered some of the world’s major insurance markets including the US and the UK. He began his insurance career with Allianz in Germany before joining AXA in 1999, where he held numerous senior roles. Most recently, he was chief underwriting officer at AXA Affin General Insurance Bhd in Malaysia, a position he had held since 2015.

Meanwhile, Zheng will assume her new role on August 01, where she will be in charge of marketing, origination and client relationship management activities of P&C business in the Hong Kong/Macau and Taiwan markets. Zheng joined Swiss Re in 2008 and has been involved in customising non-life solutions for clients across Asia. Most recently, she was client manager & market underwriter for P&C reinsurance, a role she has held since 2014. She succeeds David Alexander, who will be retiring.

“Hans-Joachim and Xinmei bring with them extensive industry experience and possess a deep understanding of this region,” said Victor Kuk, Swiss Re’s head of P&C reinsurance for Southeast Asia, India, Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. “I am confident they will play a critical role in driving our property & casualty business in Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.”
