Regional reinsurer Trust Re has announced two new additions to its board of directors.

Fetooh Al Zayani and Dr. Kai-Uwe Schanz have been appointed as non-executive directors of the board for a full three-year term.

Al Zayani, a Bahraini national, has spent more than 35 years in the insurance industry, with roles including underwriting, business development and executive management.

Having worked in various roles throughout the Gulf Cooperation Council, including stints at the Dubai International Financial Centre and Qatar Financial Centre Authorities, she has helped shape the insurance and reinsurance industry throughout the Gulf region.

Schanz is the chairman and founding partner of Dr. Schanz, Alms & Company, a Zurich-based research, strategy and communications consultancy.

Throughout his 25-year career in the industry, Schanz has taken on senior roles at Swiss Re and Coverium in Zurich and Hong Kong, including time spent as chief economist (Asia-Pacific) and chief communication and corporate development officer.

Kamel Abunahl, chairman of the Trust Re board, said that the additional members bring a wealth of experience to the firm.

“Trust Re is fully committed to corporate governance, in line with best international practices, and the two recent appointments are testament to this,” Abunahl said.
