Global insurance group XL Catlin has appointed Shiwei Jin as regional director for its captive insurance and global programme in Asia.

She will be responsible for growing the firm’s captive insurance business and develop strong relationships with clients all over Asia. She will also continue in her role as member of XL Catlin’s global programme centre of excellence team.

As part of the appointment, Jin will relocate from London to Hong Kong, but she will continue reporting to Sonja Ochsenkuehn, the recently appointed head of global programmes for XL Catlin, who is based in New York.

“We made the strategic decision to strengthen our team in Asia because we recognise our clients’ needs are increasingly complex and global,” said Craig Langham, chief executive for insurance, XL Catlin Asia-Pacific.

“Jin’s significant global programme experience and knowledge of the risk and insurance landscape in Asia ideally positions her to work with our underwriters to drive the network performance and deliver outstanding service to our clients across Asia.”

Jin joined XL Catlin in 2007 as regional research manager in China, and was a member of the team that pioneered XL Catlin’s operations in Shanghai. She relocated to London in 2013, holding several roles as part of the global programme team.
