Two companies operating in the insurance sector have announced senior appointments in Asia, with both roles focused on strengthening claims capabilities in the region. Markel Insurance has appointed a dedicated claims specialist in Hong Kong for the first time, while Tysers Singapore has named a new director to lead its marine claims and client relations function.
Markel Insurance announced the appointment of Audrey Pang (pictured) as senior claims adjuster, based in Hong Kong, effective immediately. According to the company, Pang becomes the first dedicated claims professional based in Hong Kong within Markel’s Asia claims team. Reporting to Bo Yu, head of claims – Asia, she will oversee claims arising from the company’s Hong Kong and China portfolio, with a focus on professional and financial risks (PFR). The insurer said the appointment forms part of its investment in local claims resources across Asia-Pacific and is intended to expand claims capabilities in markets where it operates. Before joining Markel, Pang served as claims lead for financial lines and cyber at Zurich Insurance Company Limited in Hong Kong. In that position, she managed financial lines and cyber claims, including litigation cost management, vendor engagement, governance reporting, and complex claims. She also previously held underwriting roles covering financial lines and cyber at AIG.

Bo Yu said Pang’s appointment supports the development of the insurer’s regional claims operations. “I’m pleased to welcome Audrey to the Asia claims team. Chelsea Jiang, managing director of Greater China, said the appointment represents an investment in the company’s operations in the Greater China market. “Audrey’s appointment is a meaningful investment in the long-term growth of our Greater China business. As our first dedicated claims professional based in Hong Kong, she will help bring greater local focus, responsiveness, and technical capability to the claims experience for our brokers and clients. The Greater China market will welcome Audrey’s appointment. She is well known locally and brings the market relationships, language skills, and specialist experience needed to support our ambitions across Hong Kong and the wider Asia region. Her arrival reinforces our commitment to building a specialist platform that combines local knowledge with Markel’s regional and international expertise,” Jiang said.
Separately, Tysers Singapore announced the appointment of Prantika Sengupta as director of marine claims and client relations. The broker said Sengupta has 15 years of experience spanning maritime law, insurance and reinsurance, claims management, and dispute resolution. Her background includes handling maritime insurance liabilities, cargo claims, and contractual disputes across multiple jurisdictions. Sengupta joins Tysers from Sealead Shipping, where she was global director – legal. Before that, she served as deputy general counsel and head of claims and insurance for Asia-Pacific at CMA CGM.
In her new position, Sengupta will work under Chris Sydenham, chairman of claims, supporting clients across the marine portfolio. She will also work with Marlena Truszczynska, head of shipping claims in London, who joined Tysers in February after serving as vice president, claims, at Norwegian Hull Club. According to Tysers, the appointments are part of its ongoing investment in claims expertise and client support across the global marine insurance market.
