Marine insurer North P&I Club has announced the retirement of Alan Lo, director of the firm’s Hong Kong office, effective November 30. Lo had been part of the company for over 23 years.

Lo joined North P&I in 1995 as manager of the newly-opened Hong Kong office. He later became general manager for Asia-Pacific in 2007, following the opening of the insurer’s Singapore office. Since 2011, Lo has served as director (Hong Kong).

After his retirement, Lo will continue as a part-time consultant for the company until end-February 2019. Jenny Chu will succeed him as manager of the Hong Kong office, supported by Iris Shiu and Katherine Yuen.

According to a statement by the company, its presence in mainland China and Hong Kong has more than tripled over the past 10 years under Lo’s leadership. The Asia-Pacific region now accounts for 36% of the firm’s entered gross tonnage worldwide.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Alan for his service and commitment over the past 23 years,” said Paul Jennings, CEO of North P&I Club. “He has made a valuable contribution to the strong presence the Club enjoys in the Asia-Pacific region today. I wish him a long and restful retirement.”
