AXA UK, which is dedicated to fostering an inclusive workplace ethos, is bolstering its support for neurodivergent colleagues by joining the Group for Autism, Insurance, Investment, and Neurodiversity (GAIN).

As a community interest organisation, GAIN’s mission is to initiate a significant shift in the employment landscape for neurodivergent individuals within the realms of insurance, investment, and the broader financial services sector.

Through the GAIN collaboration, AXA UK is set to refine its corporate policies and practices to be more accommodating and supportive of neurodivergent staff.

GAIN will equip AXA UK with specialised advice and guidance from its network of experienced partners. The goal is to enhance the insurer’s approach to adopting and implementing best practices and neuro-inclusive strategies.

In 2022, AXA UK launched a dedicated neurodiversity stream within its ‘Able’ employee network, which focusses on disability, long-term conditions, neurodiversity, and mental wellbeing. The initiative strives to facilitate a greater understanding of neurodiversity in the workplace and offers a networking platform for neurodiverse members of the AXA UK roster.

The partnership with GAIN is expected to further augment the support framework established by the ‘Able’ network.

“We welcome the addition of AXA UK as our latest Foundation Plus corporate member of GAIN, adding their weight to the insurance-wide determination to unlock potential talent by a radical improvement to career opportunities for neurodivergent individuals in our industry,” GAIN co-chair Barbara Schonhofer MBE commented.

Suzanne Scott (pictured), AXA UK chief people and corporate responsibility officer, said: “This partnership is further evidence of the importance we place on creating an inclusive workplace where neurodivergent talent is able to thrive.

“By working with GAIN, we will contribute to creating a more diverse insurance sector that better reflects its customer base and attracts the very best talent to work in it.”
