Cirencester Friendly, a mutual insurer owned by over 44,000 members, has joined the Association of British Insurers (ABI). As a member of the ABI, Cirencester Friendly now stands among approximately 300 insurance and long-term savings sector firms represented by the trade body.

Yvonne Braun, the ABI’s director of health and protection policy, expressed enthusiasm about the new addition, saying: “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Cirencester Friendly into ABI membership. Their focus on supporting their members when they need it most is a value we share.

“We’re really looking forward to working with them to progress the industry’s protection goals together.”

Cirencester Friendly chief executive Andy Morris also commented on the significance of the membership for the mutual insurer.

“Attaining ABI membership represents a real step forward for Cirencester Friendly as an organisation and a presence in the market,” Morris said.

“We look forward to working with the ABI to increase awareness of mutual insurers and talk about the things that matter to us – providing essential cover when people need help the most and doing so in a fair and compassionate way.

“It also underlines our position as a leading provider of income protection which offers people much-needed financial support during these turbulent times.”
