Things have become official for Tony Collman (pictured), who now holds the position of property director within the UK specialty lines division at RSA Insurance after serving in an interim capacity from December 2023.

Replacing Neil Cryer, Collman will focus on the risk managed, real estate, and wholesale international side of the insurer’s property business. The goal is to drive the profitable expansion of an already successful portfolio being worked on by more than 50 underwriters.

Collman’s three-decade insurance career began at Guardian Royal Exchange. The former Gresham Underwriting chief underwriting officer has been with RSA since May 2018, initially taking on the role of underwriting leader for global property and real estate. He stepped up last December following Cryer’s departure.

Steve Watson, managing director of UK specialty, expressed his enthusiasm about Collman’s permanent role, saying: “It is great news to be able to announce that Tony has been named to lead our UK specialty property business. I have worked with Tony for a number of years; he’s an expert in the property space and is really well respected by colleagues, brokers, and clients.

“He is the ideal person to lead the team as we continue to grow and outperform the market.”

Effective immediately, the appointment comes on the heels of changes within RSA’s commercial lines operations, which recently expanded following the NIG/FarmWeb acquisition. In February, it was announced that the combined business would be led by executives from both RSA and NIG.

The UK specialty lines unit at RSA falls under the umbrella of parent firm Intact’s global specialty lines business, which provides comprehensive international solutions for brokers and clients dealing with highly complex risks across over 180 countries.
