AXA Insurance Singapore has appointed Julien Callard (pictured) as managing director, retail and health, effective immediately.

The appointment expands on Callard’s role as managing director, retail, to which he was appointed in November 2019. Callard now leads the insurer’s retail and health strategic business unit, and he is tasked with the continuing growth of these business areas, as well as their respective distribution functions. He is a member of the firm’s executive committee, and reports to Jean Drouffe, CEO of AXA Singapore.

According to the insurer’s statement, the move is part of a broader strategy to streamline and strengthen its business by merging its retail and health strategic business units. This, the company said, will boost its customer centricity.

“Over the past 20 years, Julien has held several leadership roles across the AXA Group and developed deep and extensive knowledge of the business,” said Drouffe. “With his proven track record, I am confident that he will be able to build on today’s foundation and accelerate our retail and health business toward our ambitions, in line with our commitment to empower people to live better lives. We look forward to his continued contributions in this new role.”

Callard joined the AXA Group in 2000 and has held senior positions across multiple markets, spanning actuarial, risk, marketing, and reinsurance. Prior to joining AXA Singapore, he was head of retail property and casualty at AXA Mexico.
